if cutting off left hand to save your life is the only way to make you feel better or let the pains go away temporarily, then I would rather saying nothing about positive attitude. You could not make it right doesn't mean you don't want it to be in the right way, which also means some time in the future, it is still going to be a part of your pain, because you could not face it or could not find a way to solve it at that moment in the first place. If you are able to fix it in a few years later, you will find what an awful decision you made today. So don't make a rush decision if you are not in a good mode.
