Nope, unfortunately New Zealanders still need to go through the H1B lottery.
Friends who have gone off to work at Microsoft in the US had to work in Canada for a year, then transfer internally to Seattle. Apparently there's a special visa for employees transferring within a multi-national organisation (the L1 visa, I believe). There are also American multi-national corporations with offices in NZ or Australia that are willing to internally transfer employees to the US on a L1 visa.
Alternatively, you can try and get an Australian passport. Aussies have access to the E3 visa, which doesn't require a lottery. Getting Canadian citizenship is also an option. Canadians can apply for a TN visa. It's also fairly easy for Kiwis to move over to Canada. |
