I think everybody is missing a point here, a new entrant of IT job seeker into the market don't get to choose what he/she want do. You take ANY job that you managed to find.
Talking about looking after kids, work-life balance is all not relevant if you can't find the job.
Complete a degree is the easy part, look for the first job is the hard part. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying the biggest risk is can't find a job after complete the 3 years degree. You need to know the risk you are taking. Do not assume complete a IT degrees means you will automatically get a IT job.
The good news is if LZ managed to find any IT job after graduate, regardless if its test, dev, operation, admin.. being female and 30s won't be the reason stop you progressing from your career. 30 is still considered young in this field, and IT industry in general have no discrimination against gender (not until you reach super high level)
Sorry I didn't mean to discourage LZ, I just read all the responses and everybody talk as if LZ can freely choose if she want be test / dev / admin etc.... |
