You can consider the Mazda 6 as well.
Pros: The 6 is one of the most exciting yet reliable mid size affordable family cars you can buy in NZ. All the 6s being sold in NZ are manufactured in Mazda's Hiroshima plant hence it's one of a few Japanese cars actually made in Japan. Mazda also offers a 3 year free servicing plan. Performance wise the 6 offers great handling yet very light on fuel. It's much more sporty than the 4 cars you listed above, and the desiel variant is very punchy (the petrol variant offers adequate power but don't expect too much out of the natural aspirated 2.5L engine - a similar story to the cars you listed out above. The 6 also has much better resale value than the optima and the kizashi (probably the i45 as well)
Cons: as you can expect from Mazda - the interior is a bit plain. The ride is not as confortable as the Camry's. The mid GSX trim is not as well equiped as the Optima counter part. And it's not that cheap, you will need to spend nearly 60k to get the top limited trim to get all the bells and whistles. Mazda also doesn't offer 5 year warranty, though you can purchase extended warranty from the dealers for a few hundred dollars. The worst part would be the manual transmission variant is no longer available :-(
All in all, it's not a bad idea owning a Mazda passenger car in NZ. They are popular which mean the servicing and repairing will be cheaper once your car is no longer covered by the factory warranty. You can also potentially get more bucks if you decide to sell you Mazda. I have owned 3 Mazdas so far, no complaints at all.
Good luck with the new car hunting. |
