Hi There,

The house I am going to buy have a building consent to install a lift between the ground floor and first floor in 2010, but they didn't go ahead to install the lift.

What's the impact if I buy this house and not going to install the lift?

From my understanding - nothing. Previous owner has applied for a consent, but that doesn't mean he'll have to go ahead with it. Its just that he has a permission to go ahead. Just like my house, it has a consent for swimming pool, but I chose not to do it. I think building consent will expire after a certain period, and you will need to re-apply if you wish to install an elevator.
