Donated a kidney, won a heart

A woman has tied the knot with the stranger she donated her kidney to three years ago.
Chelsea Clair, then 22, first met Kyle Froelich at a car show in 2009 when he was 19.

She was already aware of the high school student's plight to find a suitable kidney donor and despite barely knowing him, Ms Clair announced she wanted to give Mr Froelich one of her kidneys.

Tests soon discovered Ms Clair, from the US state of Indianapolis, was a perfect match for the operation and her kidney was successfully donated.

After the transplant the pair became inseparable and finally decided to take the ultimate plunge and get married.

Surrounded by their family and friends, who believe the marriage is a clear example of "fate", the couple were married at the Danville Conservation Club, the exact spot that held the car show where they first met.

Ms Clair said she can’t pinpoint why she made the decision to donate her kidney to Froelich, but says the fact her father died after missing out on a bone marrow transplant probably played a role.
