A lot of people have complained about the attack. These people are obviously confused about the this very simple causal relationship:

The student was attacked, because he was an easy target, not because of his Asian face.

Those fucking criminals believe Asians are rich (in conjunction with boast), physically weak, and with poor English ability, and that is the reason why they target Asians.

Being an Asian, from a racial perspective, has nothing to do with the attacks.

Literally, any ethnicity, with the above stated features, "physically weak / rich / language barrier" can be targeted.

So, simply saying "Asian is attacked again!" is very misleading and racist itself.

第一，一个人犯罪的动机有很多。纯因为种族主义而犯罪的案例少之又少。

99%的种族主义者都不会犯罪，好比说谁的身边没有几个看不起亚洲人的同事呢？他们都会犯罪吗？
同样，99%的罪犯都不会仅仅因为看不起你这个种族而对你做出什么法律不容的事情。

就好比说眼前这个案例。我虽然不是亲身经历，但是我可以90%肯定，这个跟种族主义不沾边。

他抢你是为了你的钱，他打人也是为了抢你的钱，并不是因为你是亚洲人这个人种。犯罪的本质是钱，不是对你这个人的仇恨。

如果非要说他是因为你是亚洲人才对你犯罪，那只能是因为目前亚洲人在新西兰代表了一些特质：

1身体孱弱
2家境比较富裕（就算不是大富大贵，谁身上也少不了个iphone，几十块现金的，而这些，对罪犯来说正是他们需要的）
3语言不好，一旦需要帮助都没办法求救

正是因为这些特质，才让亚裔成为罪犯的目标。但这些，与种族主义并不沾边，这是我第一点想说的。


第二，如何保护自己，这是我想说的重点。

我想先说说破案。破案是一个很复杂的过程。大家可以想像一下，除了有目击证人这种案件，一个人干了一件坏事以后跑了，然后让别人去还原他是如何犯罪的，这是一个相当复杂的过程。举个例子，那个中国人杀印度司机的案子，在有DNA，监控录像，指纹等等这种先进科技的帮助下，20多个警探两个月的时间才完全还原他的作案，逃跑的过程。然后再加上何中国政府协商，合作，共审，前后一共将近两年时间。大家想想，他拿刀杀人不过半分钟。

像柯南那种一瞬间靠个小线索就全盘揭开秘密的，早就进世界犯罪教材了。一万件案子里面也不一定有一件。

比如说一个简单的入室盗窃，如果警方全力以赴，破案是百分之百的，如果不论花多少钱，花多少人力。以现在科技，你想进入一个房间而不留下你的痕迹，几乎是不可能的。但是一句话，没有那么多钱。

大家看过rmb的帖子，应该也已经知道了，这边是无罪推定的英美法系。定罪是一个非常复杂以及精密的过程。原则是宁可放过1000也不能错判一个。

很多从中国来的朋友不理解这种模式，认为这种模式对犯罪者的保护超过了对受害人的保护。其实不然。他保护的是，人，作为一个个体，所应有的权利，尤其是在他犯罪以后。对犯罪者的保护，才突出了法律的神圣不可侵犯的地位。人在犯罪以后，他面临着：被警察起诉，失去自由，舆论的压力，家人的压力，等等等等。如果法律迫于舆论的压力，迫于警方的压倒性优势而给某个人盲目定了罪，那么这样的法律还值得你们信任吗？

上述的情况就要求我们好好考虑一件事情：

如何在意想不到的情况发生以前保护好自己。

这个情况分为自身和外界两个方面：

1。从自身来说，不炫富，这是一个原则。看过三言二拍的同学应该知道里面有多少故事是因为露了白才让贼人起了杀心。这个是非常重要的。你不能说，我自己的东西，我想在哪里用就在哪里用，这是我的事情。是，这个说法绝对没错，但是从杜绝犯罪的角度来说，它并不能帮助你。因为坏人总是存在的，无论是中国，新西兰，索马里还是冰岛。

I think your point is paradoxical. Look at the world and who meets the the three standards you mentioned: asians. So why on earth cant we say asian was attacked again?
