Pearl Garden(明珠园) isn't so great tbh and very pricey. The food is rather average and it seems more foreign-friendly than authentic. ie, they don't have half the dishes I normally want. That, and the food comes out way too slow for my liking. More often than not we've had to order our dishes with the waiter.
Grand Harbour (海港) and Grand Park (马车会) are quite expensive and also IMO relatively so so in terms of food. Nice place to bring someone though.
My top picks:
1. Sun World (美食新世界) in Newmarket Khyber Pass - Good food, not so oily. Food also comes out pretty consistently. Pricing is OK. Was just there today too... Don't get it confused with Sunny town(羊城小馆) across the street. That used to be good in the 90's. Now it's pretty mud. I only go there when I can't be stuffed waiting for a table at the other newmarket restaurants.
2. Chinese Kitchen(新城小厨) on Khyber Pass - upstairs next to Cock & Bull - looks dodgy as all hell but the food is pretty good, and, (a very important criteria to asians), it's cheap. |
