The last, but the best

当年，毕业论文答辩评分之前，导师会给最后一次当面辅导修改的机会。因为那段时间打工比较忙，就和导师约了一个比较晚的见面日期，那天刚进他办公室，就听到他对我说：“Hi, you are the last!”于是我连忙说抱歉，最近很忙云云。他继续笑着对我说：“That’s all right, I think your report might be the best!”我一听到这话，顿时心花怒放，如果论文是他带的学生中最好的，那顺利通过应该是没有什么问题了。果然，我的毕业论文成绩为A，以后会被保存在学校图书馆供他人查阅。

毕业后的这些年，我总时不时地埋怨自己，错过了这样那样的机会。特别是感情方面，由于以前过于专注事业，使得自己总处于孤独状态，每每耿耿于怀，责怪自己放弃了这个、可惜了那个，恨不得一切都能重来，恨不得一切从头开始。

今天突然想起毕业论文的事情，内心猛地受到了触动。是啊，the last but the best，或许是最后一个，但很可能是最好的一个呢。事业如此，感情亦如此，或许曾经会觉得失去了某个机会，但等到那天来临，才会明白，原来这最好的一个就等在最后，才是真正属于你的永远。

Life is short and always has so much for us to fill.  We all try our best, so we could last, could face the life and face the challenges. But life is simple in the sense that it does not need the best to be the best, it only needs the right piece to make the life meaningful, make us feel like we have a place to be with and a place to plant our heart,  a place to grow and make us to last in the fight of being the best....
