just my personal experience, i was a secondary/polytechnic english teacher in china, studies master tesol in victoria uni and then applied for primary teacher training. found that primary teaching is very hard--you have to teach all teh subjects, me personally i did not pass the teaching experience (my english accents) and other things happened, i withdrew from teh course in the last month.
some of my classmates in the primary teaching are now overseas, a korean girl is teaching esol in secondary school.
guess nzers are still quite conservative of having a "foreign" teacher teaching their kids especially when you are the only teacher responsible for the kids every day.
you might like to think about secondary teaching, not so much pressure.
