Can we all stop saying "chinese". This I fear will spark something really ugly - remember the whole 'foreign drivers' fiasco.
I love chinese people, they are for the most part, kind, well - mannered, people.
China as we know is growing at a terrifying rate and they are looking offshore to keep up with demand. Is it their fault if they see a bargain here and go for it?
After all NZ is for sale.

Agree totally. Chinese here are great. Glad to have them here. Have personal friends and colleagues who are Chinese.
The issue is the 'offshore' investment not the locals.
The offshore investment in NZ housing is what Phil Twyford has highlighted by saying the sales numbers don't stack up against the size of the local Chinese population.
National, their spin doctors and the media that work with them are the ones creating a race issue to try and deflect the criticism away from their lack of action on this.

Agreed. Foreign ownership is the issue here, not just Chinese ownership.
