事件： 2006 New Zealand University Games
内容:
2006年新西兰大学运动会拥有百年历史，最早于1902年举办。今年这届将在Wellington举办，由Victoria University Of Wellington 及其学生会共同组织。这次运动会估计有近3000人参加，而其中梅西大学Albany校区估计有100人左右参加。其中共有28项竞技项目：具体项目如下：

每个人大概可以报两项运动。对于Team Albany来说，最重要的目标不是总冠军，而是Small Campus Awards，和Spirits Awards。Team Albany 已经连续5年蝉联 Small Campus Awards。但Lincoln University 从我们这里连续两次夺取了 Spirits Awards，这次Team Albany的 manager 要把它夺回来. 参加的运动员大部分是Kiwi。华人学生虽然有参加但不显眼，参加的项目主要为 羽毛球，乒乓球和网球。去年一些华人学生为Team Alabny夺得Table Tennise的第二名好成绩。这多多少少给其他华人学生树立了一个榜样，让其他人来融入这个活动。
其实这个大学生运动会完全和国内类似的大学生运动会不同，这里更侧重社交方面的因素，体育竞技或名次成了其次。正如“友谊第一，比赛第二一样”。在运动中，一起合作努力的时候，许多运动员由一开始的互相不认识到后来的认识，再变成好友。 运动回来之后，在自己住的旅馆里和室友或队友，一起大吃大喝，狠狠地放松，大家最后高高兴兴，开心一场。
因此个人认为这是一次很好的体育竞技和社交机会，即使你不擅长什么，这也不要紧，不管你参加什么，总能得到和体验到不少，交不少朋友。

对华人学生参加大运会的建议：
Chinese students have tended to play table tennis, tennis and badminton overthe last few years, its just the sports they tend to like to play. We encourage students of all nationalities to get involved and play any kind of sport they'd like so it is really up to students themselves to sign up for different kind of sports and get involved.
I really hope that those Chinese students that take part in the games feel like they are part of Team Albany,but again if you are travelling down and staying at their own accom you won'tbe part of Team Albany bonding, hence we want everyone to travel and stay together.

About the Games
The New Zealand University Games are the Flagship University Sporting event in New Zealand. The first Uni Games was held in 1902 with 3 sports being contested - tennis, Athletics and Debating. Now over 100 years later the Games attracts over 2000 participants in over 20 sports and is one of the largest annual multi-sporting events in New Zealand.
Held each March / April, the Games are famous for providing a friendly yet competitive environment for competition. An atmosphere that has developed the Games into NZ’s premier University Sports Event. Off the field, the week has an exciting social programme that has enhanced the not-to-be-missed reputation associated with the Games.
Uni Games 2006 - Wellington
Uni Games 2006 will be held in Wellington from Tuesday 18 - Friday 21 April. The Games will be partnered by VUWSA and Victoria University of Wellington. It is expected over 2500 students will compete in 28 different sports.
The Games will be based in Central Wellington, and most sporting events will be staged in the heart of Wellington.
The Games Rowing Regatta will take place on the Whanganui River the Saturday prior to the Uni Games opening ceremony. All Rowing competitors are welcome to compete in another sport during the remainder of the Games.
