Traditional visiting groups will teach the audience about Chinese puppet shows, traditional Chinese art and Lion dancing. Expert SessionsEver wondered about the ancient Art of Tai Chi and what it is? Want to know more about the art & beauty of Chinese poetry and paintings? Do you want to learn what Chinese New Year is actually all about? Come join our expert sessions to find out more.  CraftsCome and participate in making Chinese New Year Crafts to take home. Learn how to write calligraphy, paper cutting designs and contribute to our Museum lantern project, where all our visitors’ New Year wishes are celebrated through our giant lanterns that will be taken to the Auckland Lantern festival. 10 FEB PROGRAMME 10.15AM Chinese New Year Lion & Dragon Dance opening EPACs dragon & lion dance team Atrium 12PM   2PM Expert Session with Nora Yao Join Nora Yao in an interactive talk about Chinese New Year. The history and traditions of Chinese New Year and how we celebrate the Chinese festive season.Expert Session with Professor Paul Clark Films have offered a fascinating window on Chinese society since before the 1930s.  Join professor Paul Clark in a session showing how movies have reflected changes in China from early times until the present day. Auditorium    11AM – 12PM Chen Tai Chi Group Join the Chen Tai Chi group in interactive session learning and practicing the art & leisure of Tai Chi. This talk will give an introduction to the way that Classical Chinese poems work and give you the opportunity to try marking the Chinese New Year by writing your own Chinese poem (in English!)Expert Session with Professor Manying Ip Join Professor Manying Ip as she talks about the evolving story of Chinese in New Zealand, and examine what their presence has meant to the country.A Session with Ms. Chen Yu Chun Join Ms. Chen Yu Chun in an interactive session watching & learning about the art of Chinese Water Ink painting.
