[心连奥运]各界华人学生会庆祝奥运会倒计时1周年宣传活动（中英文新闻+图片+视频）

为庆祝万众期待的北京2008年奥运会，由梅西大学华人学生会牵头主办的“One Day Event”(梅西北京2008年奥运会倒计时一周年活动)在梅西大学Albany校区Recreation Centre于2007年8月18日上午12时召开。此次活动不但是为了庆祝北京2008奥运，献上新西兰广大华人留学生最真诚的祝福，主旨更是为残疾人奥运会捐款，联合贡献出华人的一份力量！

当天的活动得到奥克兰8所社团(包括南岛的堪特博雷大学，奥塔歌大学等）的热烈支持，兄弟姐妹校的同学们纷纷在在送往各校的奥运旗帜上联合签下自己的名字。此活动更是得到了各界政要人物的响应，新西兰残奥会负责官员Wade，国家党国会议员黄徐毓芳，教育领事高宇航，梅西大学ＡＳＡ的副主席Brand，，福建同乡会会长李农，华人网络社团Skykiwi市场管理部负责人Sarah，AUT华人学生会主席张涵，NZCSA华人学生会副主席Michael，AIS华人学生会副主席邓静等政界、学生领导也到场一同庆祝并签名留恋。

活动在喜庆热烈的传统舞狮中拉开了序幕，梅西华人学生会主席李杰对在座的同学和领导表示了欢迎，表示希望通过类似的活动加强新西兰各个学校之间的联系，对当地和国内媒体反映在新华人留学生积极向上的一面。紧接着的由精武学校带来的传统武术的表演中，几位洋人的高强武艺令在场的观众不由叫好，也让活动达到一次高潮。在之后的教中文的活动中，高宇航领事在在场观众的请求下更是当场潇洒飞扬的书写了一首诗词送给新西兰的华人留学生，希望华人学生们能在外自强不息，努力拼搏。在之后的奥运热舞中，不但有三位华人美女的精彩表演，韩国学生会的７位帅哥们也热情加盟到场，让会场掀起了一阵阵尖叫。紧接着，学生会也当场展示了梅西学生Lawrence和学生会的同学们连夜赶制出来的奥运宣传片，感人的画面，激昂的音乐，最后的画面在全体华人留学生一同喊出了”We Are Ready!”中定格，在场的观众和学生会的同学们无一感慨万千，热烈的掌声淹没了全场。表演之后，在场的同学们纷纷上前在奥运旗帜上签名留恋。

之后梅西大学和AUT大学的体育代表队分别在乒乓球，羽毛球球，室内足球等项目上展开了友谊校际比赛。活动在一片欢呼声和加油生中拉上了完美的序幕。

此次“One Day Event"是当前梅西大学华人学生会筹办进程中最为重要，也是最具影响力的活动之一，得到了广大校内外同学的一致好评和热烈反馈。在长达一周年的为残疾人捐款的活动中，梅西大学华人学生会也会继续本着服务华人留学生，树立在新西兰华人留学生正面形象的宗旨继续努力，开展参加一系列的后续活动，包括组织当地高中的”One Dream”绘画比赛，大使馆组织策划的大型迎接奥运晚会等等，敬请大家期待关注，并支持我们今后的活动。

18th August 2007 will be fondly remembered by many who attended the “One Day” event held at the Recreation Centre, Massey Albany University. Organised by the Massey Chinese Student Association, this event was supported by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China (Auckland), the AUT Chinese Student Association and various tertiary university Chinese student associations.   



“One Day” celebrated the one-year countdown of the Beijing Olympic Games and the New Zealand Chinese community had the opportunity to send well wishes to their country. To make the event more meaningful, there was also a donation drive for the Paralympics Association of New Zealand, to show support for disabled sportspeople.   



Hyping up the celebratory atmosphere, the lion dance troupe made a spectacular entry performance to welcome the distinguished guests; Ms Pansy Wong, MP for National Party; Mr Gao Yuhang, Education Director Consul General for People’s Republic of China; Mr Wade, representative of Paralympics New Zealand; and chairmen from the various university Chinese Student Associations.  



Highlights included the showcase of ancient Chinese martial arts performed by Caucasion kungfu enthusiasts, a breathtaking hip hop performance by 7 suave, athletic Koreans who have proven themselves to stretch beyond the limits what most bodies can achieve - and of course the sumptuous authentic Chinese cuisine! In the midst of the celebration, Mr Gao graciously penned down an ancient Chinese proverb, to encourage the overseas Chinese students to constantly gear towards excellence and never to give up in times of difficulty.  



The crux of this event was the viewing of the event’s theme song “We are ready” – a music video produced in New Zealand by fellow student director Lawrence, from Massey University. The video brought tears to many attendees, as glimpses of well wishers from all walks of life in Aotearoa flashed for split seconds across the big screen. Near the end of the screening, cheers and applause filled the hall with everyone yelling “We are ready!!!”



Recently, local media have been harping on about the racism toward Asian students, and the Chinese Student Association hopes to dispel negative portrayals of overseas students in New Zealand. “One Day” seeks to bring a positive outlook for the Chinese community and has been well received by many people and organizations.
