About the college The International College of Auckland is an NZQA-registered tertiary education provider located in central Auckland. We have been operating since 2002, and we offer courses in English (NZCEL), Engineering, and IT. We currently require two ESOL teachers to join our team. The roles will begin on the 27th of February.
About the role This role is for 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) from 9am- 2.30pm. The position involves teaching on the beginner and elementary English programmes (NZCEL Foundation and Level 1/ CEFR A1/A2). This will be in either the Queen Street or Rosedale (North Shore) campus. The role includes 20 hours classroom teaching. Summative assessment activities take place every 5 weeks after which there is a holiday week. Hours may vary in this holiday week.
Responsibilities • Providing high-quality teaching of general English to beginners and Level 1 learners (CEFR Pre-entry/A1/ A2). • Creating and delivering engaging communicative and student-centred lessons. • Having an ability to differentiate for the different levels of the learners in the class. • Promoting a positive and supportive learning environment. • Summative assessment and post-assessment moderation tasks. Training will be provided in this area.
To be successful in this role, you need: • To be able to speak Mandarin. • A CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL. • An undergraduate degree. • Eligibility to work in New Zealand. • A good command of written and spoken English.
Preferred but not essential: • 1 year + experience in teaching English to beginners/ elementary learners. • Experience developing assessments, moderating and assessing for NZCEL.
