I come from a similar background as u, grew up overseas since I was 10 (in a couple other countries besides NZ). I'd say I'm half Asian half westernized, still very much in touch with my Chinese roots, but don't think I can date anyone that wasn't raised overseas since they were little. I have tried and it didn't work out. I gravitate towards ABCs more than white people thought cuz I feel like with ABCs, we can connect more culturally. I don't like how in Chinese/Asian culture, girls ask questions about your house, your car, how much you earn etc, on a FIRST date. Like it's not a fucken interview and I bet they don't do that to western people on a first date. Just same old double standards and internal racism (Asian girls treating Asian guys differently compared to white guys). You should watch this video and read the comments. Always a heated topic. https://youtu.be/StPdPBDmwwQ?si=jV_3P1rP9fDKUreoIn saying that, not ALL asian girls do that and u've said it urself, these are just a FEW bad experiences (out of the many good/'normal' ones) u've had.
Anyway, not sure if u have completely given up on dating platforms, but besides Tinder, u should give Bumbles a go too. Good luck!
