Nearly 19,000 Mazda Cars Recalled Over Fears Engines Could Lose Power
https://10daily.com.au/news/aust ... lose-power-20190718
Some of Australia's most popular cars are the subject of an urgent recall, with fears their engines could stall or simply lose power.
A recall has been issued on recent models of the Mazda 3, 6 and CX-5 -- some 18,700 vehicles in total.
Product Safety Australia and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission advised of the recall on Wednesday, with fears that a crucial part of the engine in the affected models may not work properly.
"The malfunction indicator light may illuminate, the engine may lose power and may stall without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users," PSA said of the potential hazards.
"The Power-Train Control Module (PCM) software which controls the cylinder deactivation function may not operate correctly, and may cause an Intake Valve Rocker Arm to move out of position and make contact with other internal engine parts."
.........
Included in the recall are the models:
Mazda6 (GL) - Model Years 2018-2019
Mazda CX-5 (KF) - Model Years 2018-2019
Mazda3 (BP) with 2.5 litre (PY) petrol engine (2019 model)
There are 18,719 vehicles in Australia included in this recall.
...........
"Owners will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer to reprogram the PCM at no charge," PSA advised.
