The government action might be unpopular but not illegal.
The voters had given them the mandate of big majority to do what they want.
If Winston Peters is in the Cabinet, he might have blocked this kind of tax without public consultation and without disclosing and bang with a big tax bill.
The government with this kind of majority is arrogant, the way Grant Robertson and David Parker talk is arrogant and is almost saying they are the law, they can do what they want, short of saying they are above the law.
