The partner of North Shore woman Cissy Chen has been charged with her cold case murder.
Yun Qing Liu, known as Jack, appeared in North Shore District Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody without seeking name suppression.
The 57-year-old's arrest comes two weeks after Ms Chen's body was found in a drain at Totaravale Reserve. She had been missing for 17 months.
Ms Chen, 44, had left work in Glenfield and arrived home in Torbay on the afternoon of November 5, 2012. Liu reported her missing later that evening.
Police launched a homicide inquiry shortly afterwards. They described the discovery of her body on March 24 as a breakthrough.
Liu will appear in the High Court at Auckland on April 30.
