For the June 2010 year:
     Full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) increased 1.3%.
     Filled jobs increased 1.0 %.
     Seasonally adjusted (SA) total paid hours increased 2.5 %.
     SA total gross earnings increased 4.6 %.

Electronic Card Transactions: September 2010 Highlights:

Changes in the value of transactions (compared with August 2010) were as
follows:

  Transactions in the core retail industries were up (1.4 percent).
  Transactions in the retail industries were up (1.5 percent).
  Total electronic card transactions were up (1.0 percent).
  By industry group, durables, consumables, and fuel retailing had the
  largest increases.

The actual (not seasonally adjusted) value of transactions in the core
retail series was up 5.2 percent from September 2009.

New Zealand Income Survey: June 2010 quarter

Between the June 2009 and June 2010 quarters:

  Median weekly income from all sources fell slightly, down 1.7 percent to
  $529 (non-significant).
  Median weekly income for those receiving wage and salary income
  increased slightly by 1.2 percent.
  Median hourly earnings increased $0.53.
  The number of people receiving income from government transfers rose
  54,400 (4.9 percent).
  Median weekly income for those receiving income from investments fell $3
  to $12.
  Median weekly income for those receiving income from self-employment was
  down by 6.3 percent.

Annual Enterprise Survey: 2009 financial year (provisional) Highlights

In the 2009 financial year:
     Total income for all industries increased by 0.4 percent, to $569.2
     billion.
     Total expenditure increased by 2.5 percent, to $533.8 billion.
     Total salaries and wages paid to employees across all industries
     increased by $3.4 billion (4.0 percent), to $89.0 billion.
     Surplus before income tax across all industries was $36.1 billion, a
     $13.7 billion decrease from the 2008 financial year.

Building Consents Issued: August 2010 Highlights

     The seasonally adjusted number of new dwelling units authorised,
     excluding apartments, fell 8.9 percent.
     The trend for the number of new dwellings authorised, excluding
     apartments, has been falling since March 2010 (following increases
     that began in April 2009).
     1,193 new dwellings were authorised, excluding apartments.
     36 new apartment units were authorised.
     For August 2010 compared with August 2009, the value of residential
     building consents rose $33 million (7.6 percent) and the value of
     non-residential building consents fell $88 million (23 percent).

Balance of Payments and International Investment Position: Year ended 31
March 2010 Highlights

     New Zealand's net international liabilities were $161.0 billion, or
     85.9 percent of GDP compared with 90.7 percent at 31 March 2009.
     68.4 percent of the $288.6 billion of foreign investment in New
     Zealand was from Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United
     States.
     New Zealand's foreign currency denominated external debt was $116.4
     billion, of which 93.3 percent was hedged.
     The value of investment from Japan and the United States was $9.4
     billion lower than at 31 March 2009.
     New Zealand investment abroad of $127.6 billion was mostly in
     Australia and the United States.
     Australian investment in New Zealand reached $100.0 billion for the
     first time.

Overseas Merchandise Trade: August 2010 Highlights

For the month of August 2010, compared with August 2009:
     Merchandise exports were up $405 million (15 percent) to $3.2
     billion.
     Milk powder, butter, and cheese led the increase in export
     commodities.
     Merchandise imports were up $126 million (3.6 percent) to $3.6
     billion.
     Increases in vehicles, parts, and accessories led the increase in
     import commodities.
     In August 2010, the trade balance was a deficit of $437 million, or
     14 percent of the value of exports.
     The August trade balance is typically negative, and the deficit for
     August 2010 is half the average of the five August months before
     2010.

Gross Domestic Product: June 2010 quarter highlights:

Gross domestic product (GDP):

     Economic activity was up 0.2 percent in the June 2010 quarter,
     following a 0.5 percent increase in the March 2010 quarter.
     Construction activity was up 6.4 percent, while manufacturing was
     down 4.0 percent.
     Gross domestic product for the year ended June 2010 was up 0.7
     percent, compared with the year ended June 2009.

On the expenditure measure of GDP:

     The expenditure measure of GDP was up 0.4 percent in the June 2010
     quarter.
     Household consumption expenditure was flat at 0.0 percent.
     Gross fixed capital formation was up 6.2 percent.

All 16 regions recorded population growth in the June 2010 year.

  The fastest-growing regions were Auckland (up 1.6 percent), Waikato (up
  1.2 percent), and Canterbury (also up 1.2 percent). 要做生意还是奥克兰，没的说。

  The fastest-growing territorial authority areas were the Selwyn and
  Queenstown-Lakes districts (both up 2.5 percent). 看来rolleston是很火，看好3-5年发展。
  Over 50% of all New Zealanders (54 percent) were living in four main
  urban areas (Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, and Christchurch) at 30
  June 2010.
