Thank you for sharing! Do you think it's ok to go without aloe vera gel?
its completely and utterly up to you. with diy you choose what you want to put in there.
the only thing is bear in mind without the aloe vera gel (and if you're not using water) you'll be left with what's called a balm, a pure oil mix (set with the beeswax), and they're less versatile in how you smother it on.
that is why most lotions and creams call for water to some extend. the dilemma here is if you were to use water, you'd HAVE to use preservative or the mixture will go off in a few days. and dont think about keeping it in the fridge coz that's not gonna last a heck of a lot longer either, not to say it completely hardens the balm.
also the aloe vera gel has some glycerin. which most proclaim is good for keep the skin moist, as it absorb something like 80% of its volume in water from the air. i have read reviews from some saying glycerin worsens their eczema, but like i said in earlier on i haven't managed to figure out whether that's because they're using products with commercial glycerin and not vege-derived glycerin. anyway, glycerin is not essential but like i said most people do think it's a good thing to add.
just keep these things in mind when you do make your own cream. |
