i am deeply concerned that alot of people (who expressed their views on this topic) thinks that doing technical programming work has no future.
I think this is entirely wrong and misleading. Doing hardcore programming can not make you a CEO, but it still provides alot of good opportunity and makes alot of money in NZ.
A good programmer can progress their career to software architecture type of role, which is well paid in NZ, looking around 100k to 150k, or alternatively, become a contractor, which is well paid as well (for a seasoned contractor, expect to earn upto 150k to 200k per year) |
