your legal costs for mortgagee sale (payable to mortgagor's lawyer for this legal action) will be around $20k even if you stop now.
if you delay another week, will be another 10k added to valuation, auction fees etc etc.
Even if you find the best lawyer in town, those costs plus penalty interest will still need to be pay. ( ref: a famous lawyer who fight mortgagee sale at waimuku and now XXXX )
IF your loan is unable to be met by the mortgagee sale ( that is shortfall), they will go against you on the balance.
Your personal credit will be affected, it will be difficult for you to get a loan in the future. If you are going to apply for PR and you are bankrupt, it might also be affected.
