Course Regulations
Part I
Refer to the Generic Regulations for College of Business Undergraduate Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates.
Part II
Course Requirements
1. Candidates for the Degree of Bachelor of Business Studies shall follow a personal course of study, which shall consist of papers totalling at least 300 points with:
(a) not more than 150 points at the 100-level;
(b) at least 62.5 points at the 300-level from Section A of the Schedule of Undergraduate Papers of the College of Business.
(c) at least 200 points from Section A of the Schedule of Undergraduate Papers of the College of Business.
(d) papers to the value of at least 25 points from departments outside the College of Business in addition to any listed in Regulation 2.
2. Every course of study shall include the following nine core business papers: 110.100, 125.100, 152.100, 155.100, 156.100, 157.100, 161.110, 178.100 and 219.100.
3. A candidate may complete the requirements for the BBS with or without a major.
(a) BBS with a major
A major requires a candidate to include 75 points from above the 100-level in a particular subject area. At least 37.5 of these points must be at the 300-level.
Details of the majors that have been approved by the Board of the College of Business are available from the Departments and School associated with the degree:
Accountancy
Applied and International Economics
Commerce
Communication and Journalism
Finance, Banking and Property
Human Resource Management
Information Systems
Management
Management and Enterprise Development
Management and International Business
Marketing
(b) BBS without a major
A candidate may complete the degree without a major by satisfying all the requirements except Regulation 3(a).
(c) A double major consist of two majors with no papers in common, or two majors where there is one paper in common in which case the candidate will choose a replacement paper of at least the same points value at the same or higher level in the same disciplinary prefix.
4. Candidates shall present themselves for assessment of their English writing skills and are required to pass (or be exempted from) the English Writing Skills for Business Students module (115.001) before they can enrol beyond 100 points for credit to their degree (suspended for 2006).
5. Candidates may credit to the BBS course no more than 37.5 points in which they have gained an R (restricted pass). A restricted pass shall not qualify as a pass for corequisite or prerequisite purposes.
6. Candidates who have been awarded the Graduate Diploma in Business Studies may cross-credit up to 37.5 200-level points to the BBS course, notwithstanding the provisions of Generic Undergraduate Part I Regulation 4(a). Where the Diploma contained fewer than 37.5 200-level points, up to 37.5 unspecified 200-level points may be credited. |
