Who is the biggest group of people using GIS?
Are there many Chinese doing this?
it all depends on whether you love GIS or not.
seriously speaking, GIS is something you need to invest quite a lot.
There are many fields you can do within GIS industry. GIS analyst, technician, developer, modelling engineer and eventually GIS consultant.
Certainly GIS developers are easier to get a job. But the job itself requires quite a lot of programming. Most NZ universities do NOT teach GIS students that quite well.
With more than 5+ years experiences, you are more likely to transcend yourself to be a modelling engineer or GIS consultant, depends whether you want to keep doing technical work or more management kinda work.
I just came back from a conference where only 5 Asians have shown up, compare to the total amount of people about 50 - 60.
If you look at the trend of technologies. People are demanding more and more data and information. Certainly disciplines like GIS that study data all time will become more and more popular.
