孩子差不多兩歲，便踏入了他們的第一個反抗期，外國人口中的Trouble Two、Terrible Two就正好說了這個時間，孩子的行為是多麼的令人傷腦筋。

Terrible Twos – Tantrums, Tempers and Tug-o-Wars!By Jodi · 24 Comments

It feels like the terrible twos have been going on for months, and Miss Z is not even two yet.

The 3 Ts are very prevalent in our house at the moment!

Tantrums

Miss Z has LOTS of tantrums which can be mild to long and excruciating.

Possible triggers for tantrums are:

1.  Being offered a food which yesterday was a favourite but today is not

2.  Dora the Explorer not being on the TV screen the minute it is turned on

3.  Wanting to take her entire collection of Mr Potato Heads into the car with her and being refused

4.  Walking up to a child in the park and trying to take their water bottle as it looks like hers and being told “No”

5.  Being put into the bath

6.  Being taken out of the bath

7.  Putting shoes on….

8.  Taking shoes off….

I could go on for days………I have had to learn to pick my battles, as some fights are not worth the thrashing about!

Temper

Miss Z definitely has one, you would think she was born with red hair like myself, with the fiery disposition she sometimes has.

She has the ‘scary’ look when she is angry, she seems to stick her bottom jaw out and starts breathing through her nose very loudly!  It can be terrifying stuff.

Butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth.

Look at me….scared of a near 2 year old!

Tug-o-Wars

Now I thought these were reserved for school sports carnivals, but not in this household.

The scenario goes, Master M is sitting, quietly playing with a stuffed bunny for example, Miss Z does not like the fact that Master M is playing with the stuffed bunny.

She will proceed to grab it out of his hands. Master M is quick and strong for a 9 month oldand will not let go.

Miss Z: “Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!”
Slap
Master M: “Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”

Miss Z has the stuffed bunny and walks away content on her victory, Master M is a blubbering mess after having his toy taken away and being slapped by Miss Z, that is until I give him a toy car.

Miss Z does not like the fact that Master M is playing with the toy car. She will proceed to grab it out of his hands……you get the idea!

I have been told there are not only Terrible Twos, but there are also Terrible Threes!

I cannot wait until the Fantastic Fours*

The” Toddler” Twos

The Terrible twos is a child development stage which normally occurs around the age of two maybe sometimes earlier consists of toddlers often saying no and throwing temper tantrums. To help you cope with this normal stage in your child’s development, you should remember that your child isn’t trying to be rebellious on purpose. He is just trying to express his growing independence and doesn’t have the skills to easily express what he wants or may need. This can also be the reason why your toddler frequently gets frustrated and began to hit, bit, or throw a fit when he doesn’t get his way. The Terrible Twos is just a phase

If your child has began the terrible twos phase, expect that you’ll occasionally lose patience at times. Try to stay calm and breathe when you feel overwhelmed. When you are in the midst of being overwhelmed by your toddler temper tantrum, not only stay calm and breathe, but put your child somewhere safe and go and catch your breathe. Dealing with this phase can test your patience but understand that this is completely normal and it is only a phase and will pass.When your child has a temper tantrum, offer comfort or ignore the behavior. Try not to say the word “no”. Instead, use another source of discipline, such as redirecting them or humor. The Terrible Twos is necessary for your child’s growth

Meanwhile the terrible twos can be hard for parents to deal with, keep in mind that 2-year-olds are undergoing major motor, intellectual, social and emotional changes. Their language skills are growing, they’re eager to do things on their own, and they’re beginning to learning that they’re expected to follow certain rules. On the other hand, most 2-year-olds still aren’t able to move as swiftly as they’d like, clearly communicate their needs or control their feelings. This can lead to frustration and misbehavior such as kicking, screaming, hitting or biting which is why its called — the terrible twos.
