盖了4000套房子以后，孩子都没地方上学了。工党得赶紧出台新的政策不让学校改校区。。。哈哈

Two Auckland schools have changed their enrolment zones to exclude students from a new affordable housing development while a third is consulting with the community on a similar move.

The development, planting up to 4000 new-builds on Unitec land in Mt Albert, is the first major plan released under the Government's KiwiBuild programme which aims to build 100,000 affordable homes in the next 10 years.

Standalone houses in Auckland will cost $500,000 to $600,000, with apartments and townhouses under $500,000.

Unitec is condensing its campus and 29ha of its land will be transferred to the Crown.

Ministry of Education's Deputy Secretary in enablement and support Katrina Casey confirmed Gladstone School and Kowhai Intermediate had already changed their enrolment zones in anticipation of the development.

"Mt Albert Grammar is in the process of consulting with the community about their proposed zone amendment."

Casey said all three schools had been engaging with the Ministry.

it will be almost 100% "state" housing, because it's not something an average family wants to live in, nobody wants to buy them. But beneficiaries will love them...LOL

The whole thing is just a show, 演演戏罢了。。。哈哈

貌似是ministry of education 建议学校这样做的吧。
"The Board of Trustees had a meeting last week and resolved to begin the consultation process about excluding the Unitec Campus from the school zone, as recommended by the Ministry of Education," the spokesman said.

接下来好像avondale college会遭殃。。。哈哈哈

That is foreseenable, the schools couldn’t have  anticipated such density of residence at the time the enrollment zone was founded. The government should have included a plan with “en suite” public schools in the affordable housing zone. But given by the incompetency of the current government, under-thinking everything just becomes their tagline.

it needs work and income office there, easier for these people to claim money.
The suburd will be biggger than Glenn Innes.....


May be Unitec will allocate a few blocks for high school and intermediate schools as well since they are so generous, and these people can go to unitec next time.

难说。你看北岸northcote公屋区很近的地方就是有名的某小学，该小学不仅把公屋区划在学区外，还拒绝接受任何形式的区外学生，坚壁清野地把咫尺之外的公屋孩子们排除了。左派拿这样的学校有办法吗？

The School board of trustees exclude state housing and only pick good streets. They are run by parents from northcote points ( and Sylvan avenue, mcbreen avenue and those seaview streets) and birkenhead points. They have their children interests at heart...... when face with reality that is what they would do.

State housing children ended up going to Onepoto primary school. decile 1.

They know how to play politics, they have back up from politician behind, i think.

Some of them are lawyer, high power people on the board. That was 2010, when they did it. So, that school is now saved from state housing.

To cut the story short, it involved a few streets people petitioned to the school and only got included finally and they didn't have to send their children to Onepoto Primary School.  Again, this is "not on my backyard mentality".

32 sqm 的apartment，Housing应该是拿来出租给单身独居人士的，
这麽小的居住面积，是不能拿来养育孩子的……
Mt Albert的几家学校是多虑了……还是说，别有他意，不欢迎这个建房计画？

Housing在 Pt England的Line Rd路头，就有几栋单位面积32 sqm的公寓，
都是拿来安置单身的伤老病，这最後一个字特别头疼 -- 轻度精神病，
小区住进一位这样的人士，整个社区鸡飞狗跳，
连住在这个小区的居民，都称自己住在「屎洞」里。

如果这计画真的付诸实施，那我们将迎来奥克兰史上最大的屎洞，期待房价腰斩的同学们，大概真的可以在Mt Albert区盼到！！

恩。还有隔壁那个（就是１６楼说的）ｎｏｒｔｈｃｏｔｅ虽然没那么大名气，可是态度是同样地拽。你看高速路东的小学，其实大部分是好的，人家却都肯收ｚｏｎｅ外的学生。这两个路西的却态度这样坚决，为什么？用脚尖想想就知道了，不想收公屋区的穷孩子。这里就算我思想阴暗吧。你去这两个小学看看就知道了，除了ＷＰ有一大堆华人孩子（这它没法坚壁清野了，都是拿真金白银砸进去的）之外，其他孩子几乎一色儿的金头发。偶尔看见个黑的，仔细一看是印度的。Ｎｏｒｔｈｃｏｔｅ几乎全是白的。你进去一看，简直就会忘掉咫尺之外就有一大片公屋，有好多非亚裔有色人种居住。

同样位置的Ｎｏｒｔｈｃｏｔｅ　Ｃｏｌｌａｇｅ　如果哪个家长是特别喜欢上白人的学校的，就送孩子去那儿好了，绝对够白。

那个学校确实很白，而且据说老师也挺好的，对学生很负责，比很多西湖男校的风评都好

纽村各级学校的BOARD，权力是很大的，
中央政府负责补助学校的人事、营运开销，校产属於地方政府，运营方式由BOARD决定。
BOARD由家长委员（家长互选产生）和校长组成，BOARD开会时，中央政府有时会派员「观察」。
校长是由BOARD聘请，甚至聘请老师、学校教材都由校长提名规划，由BOARD来拍版。

所以BOARD可以决定校区……只要不触犯法律，政府也无可奈何……
如果有有力人士在BOARD里头，政府更无可奈何……
