NZ is big on "local experience", currently i know of at least two others from China, both with amazing telco experience with good vendor in China, both struggling even just to land a basic job in telco (i have forwarded both of their CVs to head of in the company).
The reality is, when you are here, whether you can even land a job is going to be a problem, trying to be a lead is almost impossible (company need a lead that already know how everything integrate together, that already have the people relationship with all relevant parties, it's not all about how technical you are).
Do think twice before you come.
Pay wise, an engineer is typically paid between $80-120k (depends on experience and connection), lead/manager/solution architect is typically paid $100-150k (again depends on how connected you are with the business).
disclaimer: i work for Spark, have about 18+ years IT working experience in NZ, currently managing a team of 20. |
