Video of drunk 9-year-old investigated

Police are investigating after a video emerged which appears to show a boy, reportedly aged 9, so drunk he can barely stand at a Hamilton skate park.

The video purportedly shows the child drunk at the skate park on Clarkin Rd in the Hamilton suburb of Fairfield.

Hamilton police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

The video, posted to YouTube last night, shows the boy apparently struggling to talk or stand upright as he holds a can of Codys bourbon RTD mix.

The boy said, "I've had an 18 box'' of the drinks, which are 7 per cent alcohol. He also said he had smoked cannabis.

The boy's father, who APNZ has not named, was shocked when he was told about the video today.
