University of Canterbury 22 February Memorial Service

Dear Students,



The University of Canterbury will mark the first anniversary of the 22 February 2011 earthquake with a memorial service on campus.



The service will be held on the lawn outside the  Central Lecture Theatres beginning with music at 12noon. The formal 30-minute service will begin at 12.30pm and will include a two minute silence at 12.51pm in memory of the 184 people who died as a result of the earthquake.



A Civic Memorial Service will be held in North Hagley Park beginning at noon. The 90-minute service will be followed with the presentation of the Christchurch Earthquake Awards.



There will be no scheduled classes on 22 February from 11am to 2pm to allow staff and students to attend either of the memorial events. Teaching will resume at 2pm.
