朋友发来的一个英文的生活哲理故事，我很喜欢，放在这里和大家分享。懂英文的朋友看英文就好，我把它大略翻译了一下，不懂英文的个别朋友可以用作参考。（原文已无法考察出处）。 A Jar and cups of coffee When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with marbles.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the marbles.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The marbles are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --The small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
there is no room for the pebbles or the marbles.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
'Take care of the marbles first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'
一个瓶罐和两杯咖啡
如果你的生活繁忙，已难以承受，如果一天24小时对于你来说已经不够用了，请记住美乃滋瓶罐和二杯咖啡的故事。
一位教授站在他的哲学课讲台前。
开始上课了，他没有开口说话，只是拿起一个很大的空美乃滋蛋黄酱瓶，把里面装满了玻璃球。
然后，他问学生，瓶罐是不是已经装满了？
学生们回答装满了。
然后教授又拿起一盒小圆石头，倒进了瓶罐里，他轻轻摇了摇瓶子，让小石头滚进玻璃球的空隙中。
然后他又问学生瓶子是不是已经满了？
他们同意它已经满了。
教授接着拿起一盒沙子，倒进了瓶罐中。当然了，沙子填满了瓶中所有的空隙。
他再次问，这个瓶子是不是已经装满了？学生一致回答：“满了。”
教授，这时从桌子底下拿出两杯咖啡，倒进了瓶罐中，咖啡迅速渗进了沙子中，将沙子之间的缝隙填满。
学生们都笑了。
等到笑声平息，教授开始说：“我希望你能认识到，这个瓶罐代表了你的生活。
玻璃球对于你来说最重要的东西--家庭、孩子、健康、朋友和你对生活的热爱
如果你失去了其余的一切，只要他们还在，你的生活仍然会是完整的。
小圆石头是其它一些重要的东西，比如你的工作、房子和汽车。
沙子是除此之外的事- - 那些小事。
“如果你把沙子先放到瓶罐中，”他继续说，那么就没有空间放小圆石头和玻璃球了，你的生活也是一样的。
如果你把时间和精力都花费在小事上，那么你将永远没有空间放那些对你来说最重要的东西。
所以……
把注意力放在那些和你的幸福攸关的事情上。
和孩子一起玩，
抽时间去体检，
和伴侣一起出去吃饭。
总是会有时间打扫房子和修理厨房废物处理器的。
“先照顾好大理石 – 这是真正重要的事情。设置好生活顺序。剩下的，只是沙子而已。“
一个学生举起了手，询问教授咖啡代表了什么。
教授笑了：“很高兴你问了这个问题。”
