今天上班，老板突然说让我接手另外一部分工作，工资也有调整了近30%。很意外，刚刚放完年假回来。算节前的礼物吧。
其实发现，平时少些话，多做些事还是有回报的。
原本年会时亚洲区的头还问我有没有兴趣过去，现在看来暂时要在NZ呆下了，毕竟跨部门的调动的机会不多。要好好珍惜。

As the annual review nearly finish, many of you have got your results, some of you might be happy, some of you might be disappointed, but many of you will just accept the result, and expect the boss will give you a better pay next year?
I would like to share with my story with you, and wish you all good luck to negotiate with your boss.
First result only had a 3.5% increase, I was bit disappointed and was explained there is a band for the position L which I wasn’t aware of before. Even we also paid an annual bonus based on performance, I still think salary is a important recognition of the performance. · Do the market research, Seek is a good tool to use. What I found is even my currently pay is in the high end of the market range, there still space to move, and clearly they know about it too. · Make sure you did perform during the year. I was one of the highly rated people in the annual performance review which gave me bit more negotiation power. · Willing to take the extra job and do it well during the year. You will get payback later. I took bit more responsibilities compared with the colleges in the same position across the company. So when I expressed my concern about the result, the boss was agreed with the extra tasks I did in the past year. · If there is a training opportunity, grab it. With extra training it can not only upskill you, but also show your initiative to the boss you want to do the job well. Many companies have paid trainings, sometimes you might already know how to do it. However it is always good to get a refresh up, also looks good in your individual development plan when doing your review.
Final result 8.5% increase, plus 2.5% one off payment for one project I did in the past.
Salary is a very important measurement for your ability, no matter you are new to the job market or you are looking for a better job, Never underestimate yourself, and don’t afraid to ask for the fair pay.
