There are only limited circumstances where you can completely stop contributing to KiwiSaver, but you could consider taking a break with a contributions holiday.
Employees
In most cases you can't stop making payments to KiwiSaver.
When you first join KiwiSaver, you have the option of opting out within the first 8 weeks (some people may be eligible for a late opt-out). Once the opt-out period has passed you could consider taking a contributions holiday
