Hot-on-the-heels of the death of Telecom's 'Big Time' broadband offer, telco Slingshot has announced its first attempt at an all-you-can-eat plan.
Launching on August 19, the appropriately-named 'All You Can Eat' plan will be limited to 10,000 spots on a first-come, first-served basis.
General Manager Scott Page says the company has learned from Telecom's ill-fated forays into uncapped broadband.
"There is a market for this type of broadband plan and customers want it," he says. "At the end of the day, isn’t it customers that we should be listening to and developing products for?"
Yesterday Mr Page told 3 News there had been a "lack of transparency" with Telecom's handling of uncapped broadband plans. Telecom was fined $500,000 and forced to refund internet users after being found guilty of misleading customers over speeds on its 'Go Large' plan, Big Time's predecessor.
He says Slingshot's new plan will cost "under $80 a month" and will be flat-rate and "transparent".
"We want customers to make informed decisions, and we will ensure the product meets customer expectations."
