Instructions
1
Move any rugs. Sweep up dust and debris with a broom and dustpan. Or use a vacuum cleaner if the vacuum has a "bare floor" setting. A vacuum cleaner without this setting should never be used, as the rolling brush can scratch the timbers.
2
Soak a mop in a mixture of water and wood cleaner. Then wring out until the mop is slightly damp. Wash the floor in a back-and-forth motion, working in sections to avoid reintroducing dirt to clean areas.
3
Apply wood polish to the floor with a sponge mop or a cloth to a dry, clean floor. Work in sections until the entire timber surface is covered. Allow the polish to dry before walking on the floor.
Tips & Warnings
Place rugs at the entrances to your home. These will trap dirt and debris that would otherwise be tracked inside and ground into the wood grain, causing scratches.
Never apply a soaking-wet mop to a timber floor, as this can cause the wood to swell and damage the grain.
