The Job
An excellent opportunity for an experienced carpenter who islooking to move back into a secured paid role, or someone wanting to join ourclient's significant Auckland business that can offer long term employment. Inthis role you will be working on the tools while managing a small team on awide variety of projects. You will be leading a site based team and will coordinateconstruction activities for the delivery of buildings to agreed standards,within the required budget and timelines. Responsibilities will include -
- Ensure quality workmanship
- Oversee site presentation
- Time management for the project, setting and driving targets for the team
- Programme delivery, coordinating with project management
- Management and escalation of problems/ issues
- Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements
- Manage health and safety needs on site
The Candidate
The ideal candidates must have at least 3 years experience including 15 months of New Zealand work experience (experiences in residential property will be a bonus), relevantqualification or certificate is preferable but not a must. Other qualities include -
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of and ability to assess building structural integrity and weather tightness detailing in accordance with current building requirements
- An understanding of relevant regulatory requirements including construction, health and safety and employment
- Experience in managing and supervising staff and subcontractors
- Good problem solving ability
- A sense of humour
