The best cars of my life were Japanese -- the first model of Miata (1990) ran for 8 years without a single problem, my 1976 Corolla (purchased new for $3,850) ran 150,000 miles without trouble, and my current car is a Lexus that is superb. We swore off German cars (Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, and VW) long ago. They are fun and well-engineered, but they are unreliable, and the cost of parts and service makes owners feel like suckers.

[color=var(--spotim-text-color-muted)]Mazda and Toyota are very conservative when it comes to deploying the latest gizmos. A case for, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

[color=var(--spotim-text-color-muted)]Agreed. I drive a 2011 Camry with 107,000 miles and only work has been brakes, tires, other scheduled maintenance items. I once owned a Jeep Cherokee and what didn't leak out of it fell off of it.
