因为这是招聘薪水，招聘公司发的的报告统计的是 有招聘需求的客户通过招聘公司招人 能提供的薪水。
一般估计薪水低的一些职位 不需要找招聘中介就能填补到空缺。只有薪水相对较高的才找招聘中介。那么招聘中介统计出来的薪水 就会比行业的平均薪水高一些。

如果看最大的招聘网站seek，看到的结果也会有这种感觉。

i find that for system, network and security, what's in the report represent a fair value of what people get paid in real life.

no idea in terms of their market share, by the look of thing their figure are reasonably close to reality though.

I did not see any change and I have watched it for the last 6 years. The top for permanent is 120k. I really wish it can go to 200k like USA or 150k like Australia.

to be fair, NZ market is just too small for any company to be able to pay that sort of money. Many of us stay in NZ for work life balance and great place to raise family and not money right? :)

I worked till 9pm last Thursday night for an urgent job. My boss want me 2 days to finish a job. I doubt that work life balance could convince me about lower salary figure.

which is an indication that you need to either consider climbing the ladder (to get even better pay), or you need to change job (quite often in my team it's the exact opposite, my team member wants to work more hours not expecting to be paid extra, and i either told them to charge OT for extra hours spent, or encourage them to leave it till next day, for better work life balance).

Based on your url post, the top limit is 120k which won't worth consideration as I am working from home. If I switch job and not work at home, the extra time spent on road won't cover increase salary difference. I work for the current company for about six years and move to a new company which I will face some unknown challenges.

work life balance只是总体上比较balance了，相对中国来说很少强制加班，没有一定要加班的暗示。
但具体到某一个行业某一个职位某一个公司某一个人某一个项目，会有忙和闲的时候。如果几个月有一个urgent job需要OT，那在IT行业已经是很好了。

不过奥克兰人上班很早啊，早上不到六点路上车就开始接近赌了。
不过你是给澳洲老板工作，是不是正好表明 澳洲没有新西兰balance？

I am a bit confuse, since when has congratulating others become an act of show off? From memory i have never revealed my current salary to anyone in the forum, how is that show off? I have met 100+ people on skykiwi forum, i have helped reviewed CV, provide career guidance, help perform interview simulation etc etc and i do all that for free. I have even successfully hook up 10+ people to company i work for/have relationship with and got people a job (which mean they end up getting their PR because of it).

Rather than being a coward and just point finger and accuse others of some random thing, why don't you step up and do something good for your own community and help others out that are in need?

Sorry, not the best person to answer this. I don't work in the software development space and hence have no idea what should be a fair salary for someone with 4 years experience.

I will answer for you.

Obviously your current salary is quite low.
Depends on the projects you did in the past based on following points, I will put you on 90k+ as permanent employee. Also depends on employer, the potential employer will pay you 70k. Obvious there is a difference, it is up to you now. :-)

How rich is your potential employer?Will the potential employer willing to share profit?
How famous the website you wrote
How great the websites are
How fast user experience the website response
How many concurrent connections the website
How you manage to write maintainable, clean, efficient codeHow quick you finish a feature
How quich you fix a bug
Unit testing
How good is your communication? Can you understand your boss's requirement?Are you eager to solve the problem you boss face? etc

I think that I can manage to get all full score in my boss's view :-)

取决于你的面试和你的CV，还有你的经历（你都做了什么，是做过完整的project，还是给人打杂fix bug,是主力dev还是support person）。

4年的经验话从市场角度说只能算是intermediate level，算strong intermediate的话大概80k往上。但是鉴于你现在62k，你至少要70k以上，如果你的经历很过硬，面试表现出色，建议要80k以上，90k不太现实因为90k可以算senior了。
还有切记不要告诉对方你现在拿多少。

The most important thing is to select the right employer. If the boss is rich, you as a employee will be rich too. :-)

I used to work for a company which considered to be very big has around 30 developers and have office in Australia, nz, uk, Europe, usa. The general manager told us in the meeting every year to say we were given market price upper level. I was senior software engineer in the company working for eleven years at the time I left the company salary was 72k year 2011. I will not consider this as upper level.

I think that I disclosed my previous salary will benefit our fellow developers :-)

its' hard to describe my skills, have used  many many... different technologies for different projects as working in consultancy company. But, im a solid problem solver technically, if i cant solve it, then others cant solve it too. One of My specialty is Javascript on front end, which it's my core asset.
