有关network architect

请问亲们有没有人知道network archtitect，如果这种职业自己出来单干，会有市场吗？有人知道这部分的情况吗？

不是很清楚，我只是知道这是一个年薪１０万＋的工作，你需要有至少１０年以上的经验并且服务过大企业做过很多网络设计和架设。　　你可以自己开一家公司，前景应该是不错的。

听说别人出来单干赚的比工资多5，6倍。

but I heard if you started business for that, you can earn 300k. Anyway, I still believe that it depends on if there is market.

It's all about contact. Having the skill and ability to do it is one thing. Whether your bf have the contact and know enough IT manager out on the market to sell his service if he does form his company is another thing.

who told you that? That's rubbish.

Network architect's salary is at least 100k.

5-6 times of that will be 500-600k.

Assuming you work 52 weeks a year (most contractor don't work full 52 weeks in a year), that will be 11k a week, or $288 per hour.

There is NO MARKET in NZ for network architect to charge $288 / hour. Not even close.

According to Robert Walter's NZ salary suvey, http://www.robertwalters.co.nz/career-advice/salary-survey.html, IT Architect's contracting market rate is $95-125 / hour.

In addition, there is not a single contracting Network Architect job opening in Auckland for the past 1-2 month.

It's not as simple as that.

If you open a business, how much you'll earn depend on a lot of things. How many clients you have, how big / small each client is? much do you charge, will the client come back to you next year.

In addition, Network Architect service is only required for enterprise clients.
Big enterrpise rarely do business with small newly founded "business", espeically this "business" consist only one single asian person...

Whoever claim 'if you start a business you'll make $xxx' is too naive and don't know what he / she is talking about.

Besides, architects / developers rarely able to go independent and form their own business. They usually only good technically but don't have wide contact and relations like manager.

Almost ALL new IT business is founded by people with strong sales / management background, not technical background.

$300k+ is possible with good contrating rate.

Again, assuming working 52 weeks a year, that's about $144 per hour. That's on the very high end of contracting rate, but still possible.

But, usually when a contract pay premium rate, it's often because they are asking for candidate with rare or specialised skills. i.e. cloud, security, etc...

In short, yes, there are lots of IT contracting roles out there that pay a lot of money, but you'll need the right skill to get it.

and many that's at that sort of level probably wouldn't ask question like this anyway. :)

BTW i work in security and there aren't that many that contracting role that pay >$120/hr (unless they are after an enterprise architect). There are tonnes of job paying $150k for a permanent security role though.

Oh ok anyway my boyfriend is just starting so he is not getting 100k yet.
May need to work at least 5 yrs to get that sorts of pay I guess.
