我是刚毕业，所以没有什么经验。我现在奥克兰，不过我不介意去别的城市。基本上，除了parenting的我不考虑，因为parenting不是说学就能学的。别的我都很愿意去尝试。

I am in Christchurch so can't give you advice on Community Agencies in AKL. However you can try Child, Youth and Family throughout NZ. It will give you a solid training for the first few years. It is going to be tough however if you can get into the door, you will be able to apply for ANY social work related jobs in NZ, or in AUS and UK. CYF will give you plenty of opportunities to learn, and solid practice-based training. It is a world-leading organisation that is recognised in the field of social work around the world, so you will be able to apply for jobs overseas later in your career. They are always looking for people to work for them as the turn-over rate for the first two years is very high, due to the nature of work. However the pay is good and after two years, you will have pretty good knowledge about the work of Child Protection, or Youth Justice.

Also, if you cannot find a job as a field social worker in CYF, then try their residences. The work is also challenging and the pay is 20% more than the field social workers. However it does not give you the training you need, comparing to a job in the field.

If Statutory social work is not your cup of tea, then try community agencies. I used to work in Mental Health and community agencies give you time and opportunity to learn, until you can stand on your own feet. You can try residential/shirt work as the money is good. However I will advise you not to stay in the community agencies for too long as you will learn how to do your job very quickly and the room for further career development is relatively limited.

Overall, welcome to the world of social work. It is challenging, it is tough, and it is fun. You will never get damn rich doing social work. However comparing to other jobs, the level of satisfaction you get is high, if you can really see the positive changes you make in people's lives. And, the pay you receive will surely support you to live a decent life!

CYF不会考虑象我这种只有一年工签的人，别的机构也很难说

AKL.刚进入MENTAL HEALTH这行9个月。CFYS做过3个月，实在是不喜欢，可能没到那种parenting的境界吧 呵呵

Odyssey House? Mental Health Rehab 像 Richmond? Open Home Foundation？ 华社服招人吗？ 很多的Community Agency都可以试试。 和老师谈谈也有帮助，因为他们和各个Agency都应该有联络。 还有，你的Placement是在哪做的？ 如果做得好的话可能也有机会。

Do I need to practise at least one year social work to be eligible for full? I finished my social work degree 9 months ago and been working full time since.

well，我注册是两年多前的事情了。。。。印象中是要一千多个小时的pratice hours，不算placement的时间。。。。详细的记不得了。。。。不过你Competency Assessment过了吗？ 过了就容易了。。。

看你在哪里做了。。和工作的性质为何。。。。

在Community Agency做的社工和clients的接触应该会多一点。

在政府部门做的就待在办公室的时间多一点，因为paper works多。 所以CYF现在在trial给社工们发iPad，增加在外和clients见面的时间。

是的。社工就是和人打交道的。 和什么样的人打交道就要看你在哪作了。 一般人的误解，以为社工都是和社会经济地位比较低的人打交道。事实上，可能认识的医生，律师，法官，官员，政客。。。。等等比一般的工作机会较多。 真正的三教九流。

时间不一定是flexible。Again，看你所服务的单位的policy为何。 一般而言在Community Agencies的时间比较有弹性。

1小时办公室，7小时在外，偶尔打打酱油的飘过~
