NZ lodge wins 'world's best service' title

A luxury lodge in Northland has earned the coveted title of the World's Best Service with a perfect 100 point score.

The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs is one of three resorts worldwide that pulled off a perfect service score in the Travel + Leisure Magazine’s World's Best Awards 2012.

It is the first time in the awards' 17-year history that any property has received a service score of 100.

Kauri Cliffs managing director Jay Robertson says the lodge has received numerous awards over the past decade "but to make history at Travel + Leisure Magazine by attaining a perfect service score for the first time in the awards' 17-year history may be the most gratifying award we have ever received".

He says the accolade belongs to the "passionate and dedicated" staff.

"We have a wonderful team at Kauri Cliffs, many who have been with us since the lodge opened, and for them to be recognised by Travel + Leisure's readers as the best in the world is one of our greatest achievements."

The lodge, on a 6000-acre oceanfront property in Matauri Bay, is the only New Zealand accommodation provider listed in the World's Best Awards 2012.

Rankings are based on reader votes collected in magazine's awards survey.

Kauri Cliffs boasts a staff to guest ratio of 1:1.

One magazine reader describing the service said "the staff predicted our every need".

The other two resorts to receive scores of 100 were Oberoi Udaivilas in India and Posada de Mike Rapu, Explora Rapa Nui on Easter Island.
