Mental health Wellbeing should not just be spending on the nurses and hospitals, the government of the day should ask the questions why there are so many mental health cases in NZ as a whole?
A lot of mental health cases that I know of are pregnancy drug / alcohol abuse, as a result, it passed on to the children. i have seen it in the past job and read many reports in that regards.
Some mental health cases are genetic, such as bipolar disorder.
Other are drug-related mental health cases, addiction and alcohol abuse.
The root of the problem should be addressed especially drug use, synthetic drug, zombie drug that should be banned but instead are legal and widely accessible in NZ.
There is no point to spend money to build more hospitals and recruit nurses where the government is not addressing why there are so many mental health problems in the first place.
No country in this world will be proud to build more prisons and spend more money on prisons where they should address why there are so many people you want to keep them in prison.
