Police investigate man approaching students outside Auckland school
Police are investigating a man who is approaching students from his car.
Auckland police are investigating a man who has been making "unwelcome approaches" to students near a private school.
The man approached a year six student into his car on Tuesday afternoon, in the second similar reported incident from Auckland's Diocesan School for Girls in less than a week, say police.
Another approach, which police were only made aware of today, occurred on Friday around 4.30pm.
A spokesman for Auckland police said they are not using the words 'attempted kidnapping' yet as they have just started looking into the reports and findings don't necessarily suggest that.
"But there are complaints. We are looking into a couple of allegations that a male has approached some school students.
"They came to us this afternoon but tomorrow morning we will have more information."
In a statement obtained by the NZ Herald, the school said the man was of Indian ethnicity, had spiky hair, was about 20-years-old, and driving a blue sedan with the letter H as the first letter.
"We have notified our local schools and all of our girls and discussed strategies to keep safe - walk in groups, always look out for especially the younger girls and don't hesitate to use iPhones to take photographs or call 111," the school said.
