I had lived and worked in ChCh for around 2 years, but decided to return to AKL eventually simply be ...

You might be right. I am talking about construction professionals such as QS, PM and all different trades.
Not standard employees!

If you are in sort of high end job, you should go to the USA not here in NZ. NZ has its disadvantages never competing against the USA, no matter what kind of high end jobs you are.  Taiwanese students in 80s they never considered NZ and AU as their study-destination. First weird accent. Second superficially friendly not true acceptance in NZ & AU. Bear in mind, German had been treating Jews very well before World War I. The scenaios here, we bought good school zones, rented out and gain capitals. That was what exactly Jews did before World War I in Germany.

What I recommend ChCh is only for those couldn't afford good school zones. They can consider ChCh. No offense at all! There are still young couples not from rich dad background can really look at options except for AKL.

I agree with you in regard of the NZ's disadvantages toward US. But I don't think it's fair comparing NZ Chinese with pre-WW German Jews. NZ Chinese have a home nation that casts vast influence over international affairs, where Jews didn't even have a Jewish nation back then. Secondly, Jews are dominating the banking sector and controlling the economy of their host nation, where in NZ, can you name even 1 major banks/law firms/businesses that is currently owned by Chinese Immigrates? The average house hold income of Chinese immigrates is even lower than the national average. You are flattering yourself by comparing NZ Chinese with pre-WW German Jews.

'There are still young couples not from rich dad background can really look at options except for AKL.' But please remember, if you choose ChCh as the easier option for now, what if 20 years later, your aspiring child figures out that ChCh is simply not challenging enough. Will you have enough asset to support him/her to chase his/her dream in AKL or even in US? Do Not leave the hard choice to your child.
