Hairdresser is a permitted activity even in RESIDENTIAL zone, provided that it is small in scale (say, NOT employing more than 2 ppl outside the site), the house does not look different from other residential houses on the street (no non complaint signage, etc), and does NOT disturb your neighbours (no excessive traffic, objectionable noise and vibration, smell, etc), you CANNOT sell any products in your house either - if your proposed hairdresser in breach of any of the above, you will need to apply for a Resource Consent (land use permit) before you can open and very likely, your neighbour(s) will need to give approval to your proposal before Council can grant the consent.
Other than this, you will need to get a Health License and if the it involves building alterations, you will need to apply for a Building Consent.
Heaps of Chinese working for council in this area (of course, depends on which part if you live in Auckland) so just pop up and ask. |
