Under a restricted licence you can only drive between the hours of 5am and 10pm.
You cannot carry passengers during these hours unless they are;
- A spouse (a person who you are legally married to or joined in Civil union with)
- Children who live with you under your care (i.e. you support them financially)
- Relatives you live with you and are on a benefit
- Someone you look after as a care giver
- They hold a full NZ licence and have done so for two years
- You can drive outside these hours but only under point number 5. In this case the passenger becomes a supervisor who must be capable of monitoring your driving technique etc at all times.
