Since everyone in auckland mostly go to pukekohe, hardly go to other race track.
Here are some tips to attack TAUPO track 2. The new standard of NZ motorsport.
http://www.tauporacetrack.co.nz/pdf/track_2.pdf
1st corner, it can look as double apex. While you learning how to turn into T1, you should turn in
as late as possible, it will give you more idea how deep the corner is.
How to go through T1 quick, the key points are: 1st, take the first half corner as normal way.
2nd, stay close to apex on second half, when you exit the corner, you should at the middle of the
track, not the right hand side of the track. The purpose is setup the entry for T2.
T2: Turn in as late as possible, the reason is you stay on right hand side when exit T2, and build up more speed to go through T3.
T3: When you turm into T3, again late apex, so you can go back to the left hand side quicker and setup entry point for T4.
T4: The corner where most driver lost control. It is a off chamber corner. So when you turn into T4, try to turn in later and drive through
like a straight line.
T5: A tight right hander, maintain good speed is important, because a short straight awaiting for
you.
T6: When you go through this gentle right hander, make sure you end up in the middle or left
hand side of the track, which will give you more speed and easier to brake.
T7: A uphill left hander, before you turn in, you should stay in middle or left hand side of the track.
You may ask, in theory, taking a corner should be OUT IN OUT.
The reason is this corner is so wide, the entry point is not that important. So can try different way to attack T7.
T8: Again turn in later then usual, the reason is setup the braking point for S corner. If you turn
into corner as usual technique, you will travel too much distance and find yourself hard to find a
braking point go into S corner(T9 & T10). Also exit of T8 is quite bumpy, so when you exit T8,
make sure you in the middle of the track.
T9: I reckon this is a most dangerous corner, it is make by tire wall.
Try to brake inside it, it will safe you a lot of time. But if you car don't have good suspension and tyres, try to brake early.
T20: When you exit, there is bump which may offset the balance of the vehicle,
so be very careful.
T15: Another corner most driver lost control. try to turn in as late as possible, so the vehicle is
straight through the corner, which will bring your car at left hand side of the track.
Just pass apex of T15, brake and settle the car and turn into the T16.
T16: You should be in the middle of the track, don't try to use OUT IN OUT technique, it will
waste the time of travelling extra distance.
T17: Tight left hander, exit is danger due to pit wall is right at the exit.
Try to leave the corner in neutral or under steer. The reason is maintain speed for front straight.
A ideal good lap time will be 1 min 20 second
attached are result of Performance Car Super Lap at April 2007,
