Anyways, my question is, were Vietnamese once Chinese? No, right? Vietnamese used to live in Southern China a long long time ago, and settled in current Vietnam after some war or something. They never mixed with Chinese. Then the Northern Han Chinese soldiers escaped N.China afterward and went to Southern China to avoid war and famine, so the Southern Chinese today (from Shanghai to Guangdong/HK) are the descendants of the escapees of Northern Han soldiers.
Am I right? Vietnamese were never Chinese, right?

South China, Guangdong and Guangxi, used to belong to a Viet kingdom called Nam
Viet(Nanyue). NOW, Cantonese and Vietnamese are NOT related like genetic studies
have proved, because almost all southern Chinese(cantonese) nowadays are Han
Chinese, that means they have been intermixed with the Chinese from the north
during almost 3000 years.
Vietnamese language is not related to Cantonese. There are some accustic
similarities, because Vietnamese borrowed some Chinese words, that is why.
华南，广东，广西，曾属于一个越南王国称为南越南（南越）。现在，广东人和越南人没什么关系了，

Vietnamese use a lot of borrowed words from different Chinese dialects. Mostly
from Cantonese and Teochew dialects. I should know because I speak both Teochew
and Vietnamese, and I also know some Cantonese too. It's just the evolution of a
language.
越南语从很多中国方言里借用了许多词汇。特别是粤语和潮州话。我知道这个，因为我会说潮州话和越南语，还懂一点儿粤语。只不过是同一种语言的不同分支。

Fawk no. The only thing that makes vietnamese remotely related to cantonese is
the cantonese half viets. Other that f*ck no.
Plus, who the hell ever says being viet is cool. No one. Heck I even think

Vietnam was formely a province of china, where cantonese was the closest
chinese dialect near vietnam, cantonese influence is existant in vietnamese
vocabulary not vice-versa. Cantonese and vietnamese don't sound like eachother.

Vietnamese: mot hai ba bon nam sau bay chin muoi,
Mandarin: Yi er san si wu liu chi ba jiu shi. Cantonese and mandarin are more

parents are Hoa, my mother was born in vietnam and grew up in a town dead close
to the vietnamese border. When i went there a few months ago not one person i
talked had admired vietnam.

越南从前是中国的一个省，就在粤语区附近。粤语对越语词汇产生了影响，而且这种影响只是单方向的。粤语和越语听起来并不像。

越语: 某嗨巴蹦那扫白chin摸
普通话: 一二三四五六七八九十
可见粤语和普通话之间更像。大陆如今成功的控制了广东和香港的经济命脉。我父母是华人，我母亲出生在越南成长在一个小镇上之后在越南边境去世。当我几个月前回去的时候，交谈中发现人们对越南没什么好感，虽然广东人和越南人以前是一家人。
