I got mine last year from Sutcliff in Parnell.
2.06 carats.
E colour
Excellent cut
VS2
Platinum ring
Brillant cut (round diamond)
GIA
The sale price was about $51000. The final price was NZ$45000
Yours is princess cut, so the price will be different to mine.
But they said the diamond price will always get higher and higher. Even if NZ dollars in high, it is hard to keep the diamond price down. If you get it for duty free, at least you can get 15% off.
Also, it doesnt matter where the diamond is mined, because they grade diamonds under international grade, that means if the diamond quality is good, it doesn't matter if it is from South Africa or US or anywhere of the world.
The most imporant thing is where do they cut the diamond. Belgium, so far (from what I understand) has the best diamond cutter in the world. Indian, on the other hand, doesn't do a really good job because their cutters are not as skillful.
Also, you mentioned your ring is platnium, make sure you ask them if they make the claws in platnium as well.
A lot of shops will said "platnium ring", then it means the "ring" the circle part is made of platnium, but then the claws holding the diamond is by 18K white gold or 14k white gold. We wouldn't be able to tell the difference, since they all look similar. But you have paid the platnium price, so make sure you ask them to make sure. So they cant cheat you on that.
This is my experience from buying diamonds, I am not a professional and I don't work in any jewellery shop, But hopefully it helps will your shopping for ring!! |
