New Zealand (NZ)
Import:
- free import:
1.tobacco products (to passengers of 17 years or older): 200
cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grammes of tobacco or an
assortment of these to a total weight of up to 250 grammes;
2.alcoholic beverages (to passengers of 17 years or older):
-three bottles (or other containers) each containing not
more than 1125ml of spirit, liquer or other spirituous
beverages; and
-4.5 litres of wine or 4.5 litres of beer;
3.wearing apparel (incl. fur apparel for overseas visitors).
For nationals and alien residents of New Zealand: All
clothing (other than fur apparel) for own use. Fur apparel:
provided the customs are satisfied for own use and has
been owned and used for 12 months;
4.personal effects: clothing, toiletries and personal
jewellery (incl. watches) will be admitted free of duty and
Goods and Service Tax, provided they are intended for
personal use and not intended for any other person (s) or
for a gift, sale or exchange. This also covers new or used
articles which travellers may reasonably require for their
personal use during a journey, or, which returning New
Zealand resident have acquired in the course of an overseas
trip.
Additionally tourists may also import the following, on the
condition that the goods are taken from New Zealand upon
departure:
baby carriages and strollers; binoculars; calculators;
cellular/mobile phones; portable musical instruments;
personal laptops and accessories; portable radio receivers;
portable audio and video equipment; portable typewriter;
sporting equipment; still, video and motion picture cameras
and accessories, wheelchairs for invalids;
5.household and other effects provided owned and used by
passenger before departure for New Zealand and provided the
passenger has resided outside New Zealand for the whole of
21 months preceding arrival in New Zealand and the
passenger intends to reside permanently in New Zealand;
6.All dutiable goods, provided the goods accompany the
passenger and are not for sale or business use nor imported
on behalf of another person except as unsolicited gifts:
Not including wearing apparel, personal and household
effects, tobacco and liquor up to the value of NZD 700.-.
This NZD 700.- limit applies to a total combined value of
all goods imported under this concession. Individuals
travelling together cannot combine their individual
allowance. Full duty and sales tax applicable on any excess
over NZD 700.- worth.
Arms and Ammunition:
- Concealable firearms such as revolvers and automatic pistols
are prohibited. A permit for all other firearms must be
requested from the Police on arrival. Firearms must be
registered with the Police within 1 month.
Additional Information:
- The following items are restricted entry to New Zealand or
require inspection and possible treatment on arrival:
1. food of any kind (raw or processed);
2. animals (alive or dead) -see Pets-, animal products,
incl. meat, skins, feathers, bone, wool, eggs, cultures,
shells, hair, honey;
3. plants, fruit, vegetables, seeds, flowers (fresh or
dried), nuts, bulbs, straw, bamboo, wood and other plant
products;
4. equipment used with animals or plants (incl. saddlery and
beekeeping equipment), camping equipment, used bicycles,
sporting equipment, soil; items to treat or prevent pests or
disease in animals.
Visits within 30 days before arrival in New Zealand to farms
or forested areas should be brought to the attention of the
Agriculture Quarantine Officer.
Export:
- Prohibited: Greenstone, Maori antiquities, Paua shells
(except articles manufactured from such shells).
Crew Members:
- If arriving as:
1. operating crew, the same regulations as for passengers
apply, except that the max. allowance is NZD 50.-;
2. passengers, the same regulations as for passengers apply.
Pets:
- Cats and dogs:
1. may be imported directly from Australia, Hawaiian
Islands, Ireland (Rep. of), Norway, Singapore, Sweden and
the United Kingdom provided they are accompanied by the
necessary certificates and only if sent as cargo in strong
containers.
Exception: seeing-eye dogs from Australia only may accompany
a passenger in the cabin of an aircraft subject to
permission of the transporting airline provided that prior
notification of arrival is given and that the dog's
certificates are carried with the aircraft's flight bag.
2. imported from: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Austria,
Bahamas, Belgium, Bermuda, British Virgin Isl., Brunei,
Canada, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Cyprus, Denmark, Falkland
Isl., Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Guam,
Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kuwait,
Lebanon, Luxembourg, Macao, Malta, Peninsular Malaysia
(excluding the rabies control area), Mauritius, Netherlands,
Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, Portugal, Reunion, Sabah,
Sarawak, Seychelles, Spain, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia,
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Switzerland, Trinidad and
Tobago, United Arab Emirates, U.S.A. (excluding Hawaii),
Uruguay, Wallis and Futuna provided:
a. pets have been residing in one of the above countries at
least 6 months prior to export, and the pet must not have
been resident in official quarantine premises in the 60 days
prior to their departure;
b. pets are not over 42 days pregnant at date of shipment;
c. pets must be at least 9 months old at departure;
d. pets should be accompanied by all necessary certificates
and be send as cargo in strong containers. For exception see
1. above.
Note: For special regulations for pets imported directly
from New Zealand to country of export and then again, within
6 months, returning to New Zealand please contact New
Zealand Ministry of Agriculture.
3.pets from other countries will be approved if coming from
one of the so-called direct import locations, which are the
countries mentioned under 1. above. They will need to comply
with the import regulations of the other country and the
quarantine period. After the required stay they
qualify as a direct import as under 1. above.
In all cases pets require a certificate from the Ministry in
New Zealand ISSUED PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.
PROHIBITED: the Dogo Argentina breed of dog is not allowed
to be imported into New Zealand.
Baggage Clearance:
- Baggage is cleared at the first port of entry in New
Zealand.
- Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination
outside of New Zealand, provided the onward flight is on
the same calendar day and the passengers do not leave the |
